⚠️ Universities use different formulas. Check the back of your marksheet or your university's rules, and use that formula on job and admission forms.

💡 Good to know

  • CBSE's rule is percentage ≈ CGPA × 9.5 (based on its own past results).
  • Many job forms (including some government ones) ask for the formula your university uses, and some want a certificate from the university.
  • If your marksheet already shows a percentage, use that instead.

Questions people ask

How do I convert CBSE CGPA to percentage?+

Multiply your CGPA by 9.5. For example, a CGPA of 8.6 is about 81.7%. This is CBSE's own published rule.

Which formula does my university use?+

It differs: common ones are CGPA × 10 and (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, and some universities use their own. Look on the back of your marksheet or on your university's website, then choose "My university's formula" if it isn't listed.

How do I calculate CGPA from SGPA?+

Add up each semester's SGPA × its credits and divide by the total credits. If every semester has the same credits, it is simply the average of your SGPAs.
