💡 Good to know

  • CAGR is the steady yearly rate that turns the starting value into the ending value. Real returns go up and down.
  • Use it to compare a fund, a stock, a house or gold over different periods.
  • For SIPs (money added every month) use XIRR, not CAGR: try the SIP calculator.
  • Inflation in India has averaged around 5–6%: a CAGR below that loses buying power.

🔒 Calculated on your device. Past growth doesn't promise future returns.

Questions people ask

How is CAGR calculated?+

CAGR = (ending value ÷ starting value)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. ₹1 lakh growing to ₹2 lakh in 5 years is a CAGR of 14.87%.

What is the difference between CAGR and absolute return?+

Absolute return is the total % gain (100% when money doubles). CAGR spreads it over the years, so periods of different length can be compared.
